Symptoms of Slip Disc
A slipped disc is also known as a herniated disc or a disc bulge. It occurs when the inner center of a spinal disc starts to migrate outwards and thus places a lot pressure on the outer layer of the disc as well as the adjacent nerves and structures.
The slip disc symptoms depend largely on what structures are being compressed by the bulge. This means that a herniated disc cannot cause pain on its own. On the other hand, this can only happen if the structures that are being affected have a very high threshold such that they can cope effectively with the increase in pressure and thus no pain is going to be experienced. There are very many people who have these herniated discs but they can perform regular duties similar to other people.
The unbearable pain that is comes with this condition one of the most common slip disc symptoms. If the bulge that is caused by the disc is small and only aggravates the outer fibers of the spinal disc, then it is highly likely that the pain felt will be only localized. Once the bulge becomes larger and thus affects a variety of structures including the nerve roots, the pain is also going to increase in severity. It is vital that you understand that if there is significant inflammation arising from the disc, then the pain is going to be very irritable and constant. This means that even the slightest movement will set off the pain again.
